I’ve always wanted to do some kind of relic type bass with custom visuals on it. I finally managed to find a good donor bass cheap that already had an upgraded pickup and bridge in it.
Here’s the final results.

The bass rig went through some additional changes the past month. But with these changes I’m pretty sure that I’m done. I’d tried a 2×12″ cabinet, but for what I’m doing and the venue’s currently playing it was actually to much ooOmp. So, seeing as how I love the single 2×10″ sound that I currently have I simply added an additional one, am running them chained at 2ohm total and feeding them 700watts which gives the poweramp some additional headroom to spare.
Trying to sell the 2×12″. It’s a great cabinet and if I cannot get a decent price or trade out of it locally I’ll just hang onto it. About the time I sell it I’ll likely end up needing it and kicking myself for selling it.

A few posts ago I commented “Relatively G.A.S. free for once… scary…” Well, maybe that was a bit premature.
Let me say, I’m very happy with the sound of my bass rig. However, I can’t help feeling that there might be ’something more’ out there. So… as I find affordable deals on a short list of bass pre-amps I’m trying to buy each one at a time, test them out and compare them to my current core sound.
A couple times a year I either get un-lucky enough, or lucky enough (depending how you look at these sort of things) to get a movie title to work on that has no real strings attached, no direction, and no real usable provided images. Often these can be a real pain to come up with something usable that really ties into the essence of the movie, but other times this kind of ‘blank page’ type opportunity can be a lot of fun.
This was the case this past week as I’ve been working on a title called Vampire Diary. It’s a small budget indie horror flick that has some different approaches to the norm’ and ends up being quite unique.
Here’s where I ended up artwork wise… very happy with it.
